3 DIY hair masks

Factory made hair masks that you buy from the store can be absolutely amazing, or on some cases not so much. But there’s nothing better than making your very own hair mask at home that brings back the shine to your hair, and also repairs some of the split ends.

Here’s 3 hair masks you can try at home, whether you’re looking for how to make your hair grow faster or just having some fun.

The cinnamon hair mask

This mask makes your hair smell incredible and also contains vitamins that have been proven to promote hair growth. By adding the coconut oil you’ll be treating any split ends or damaged hair, too. It leaves your hair silky smooth and glossy, plus the smell will remind you of a warm autumn day.

You will need:

  • Tablespoon of coconut oil
  • Tablespoon of honey
  • A teaspoon of cinnamon

Mix all three ingredients together in a small cup or bowl, until it looks like a dark brown goo that smells like cinnamon.

Now you need to heat it up in the microwave for about 10 seconds, or if you don’t have a microwave – boil up about a cup of water and take it off the heat, then place the bowl that bowl that holds the cinnamon mixture into the hot water. Make sure the water doesn’t get into the bowl.

When the mixture is a bit warmer – not hot – apply it onto your hair like you normally would do with your conditioner. Use your fingers to brush it through your hair.

Take your hair and twist them into a bun, then put on a shower cap. You can leave it like that for an hour and then wash it out.

The egg and rosemary mask

Eggs are amazing when it comes to hair growth, whether you decide to eat them or apply them onto your hair – either way your hair will benefit from them. Rosemary is excellent for when you are dealing with hair loss, and need something to stimulate your scalp.

You’ll need:

  • Tablespoon of rosemary essential oil
  • 2 eggs

Crack the eggs and separate egg whites from the yolks. We’re going to be using the yolks, so you can cook the egg whites – they’re healthy!

Beat the yolks, and add the rosemary oil into the mix. Mix them for about a minute, and then apply the mixture onto the scalp. To get even greater benefits from this, use your fingers to give your scalp a 2-5 minute massage. It helps the blood flow in the scalp, and also makes sure that the mixture will reach all the necessary areas.

Leave the mixture in your hair for about 10-15 minutes, and rinse it out. You can shampoo your hair, although the best result would be achieved by using the conditioner only.

The lavender hair mask

With this hair mask you’ll be giving your hair an excellent treatment, plus a bit of aromatherapy on the side. The lavender hair mask contains qualities that will boost your hair growth, repairs and revitalises your hair. When you’re having problems with an itchy scalp – the lavender mask could sort that out for you by calming the skin.

You will need:

  • 2 Tablespoons of coconut oil
  • ½ teaspoon of lavender essential oil or lavender flowers
  • ½ teaspoon of rosemary essential oil
  • A shower cap or plastic wrap

Let the coconut oil warm up to room temperature until it becomes completely liquid, and add the rosemary and lavender essential oils into it.

Take the mixture and apply it onto your hair, onto the scalp when you want to treat hair growth or balding problems, onto the whole hair or ends when you wish to repair the damaged areas.

Tie your hair in a bun and cover it with the shower cap, when you don’t have a shower cap then you can use plastic wrap to seal the hair.

You should keep this in your hair overnight to get the perfect results, but 1-4 hours shouldn’t be bad either. It really depends on how it will suit your schedule.

Once you’re ready to get it out – shampoo and condition your hair.
